Compared to other regional, interschool debating programs, John XXIII Debating does not require the school to participate in an official capacity as teams do not represent the school, only themselves. Although since our targets are students from years 7/8/9/10, schools will be used as the nexuses of communication.
The most important component to our program is our local coordinators, whose role it is to promote, organise, and coordinate the program within their local school. The role is generally held by a senior student, but in some schools it is handled by a teacher. Once they have emailed us and expressed their interest, they will receive a promotion material package with all the things they need to promote the program as well as detailed instructions and guidelines on how specifically the program will be run and how it operates within the school environment.
The local coordinator will then set up the program within their school by communicating with staff and promoting it amongst students, as well as working out a schedule with our admin team. Once that phase is over(usually around 1 or 2 weeks) and the teams are registered, the school becomes part of our network. After that, the coordinator will only need to respond to unforeseen events such as forfeits or absence and communicate with the admin team when necessary.
